Season 1981-82
(Southern Amateur League)
At the commencement of the season, only the 1st and 7th teams remained in the First Division of their sections with all other sides being in the Second Division. The 7th XI had avoided relegation by virtue of having a better goal average that the eventually relegated side. By the end of the campaign four sides would compete in the top flight the following season, with the other four sides in the Second Division.

The First XI entered the FA Vase for the first time, beating Malden Vale 2-1 in the Preliminary Round but bowing out in the First Round Proper with a 1-0 defeat by Eaton Bray United.

Again the First XI entered the FA Vase but went out in the Preliminary round following a 3-0 defeat at Royston Town.

From our worst scenario three seasons earlier, all eight sides would compete in their respective First Divisions the following season.

Although no Championship titles were won, all eight sides maintained their First Division Status. A season of consolidation. Another venture into the FA Vase was short lived with a 3-0 defeat to Leighton Town in the Preliminary Round.

The First and Third Teams avoided relegation by one point but the Reserves were not so fortunate, finishing three points below safety.
