With the new season nearly upon us, I hope this newsletter is not too late
to bring you up to speed with arrangements for this season. I believe all
members who have a known email address will receive a copy of this letter.

Trials
The trials will
be held at Southbury Leisure Centre, Southbury Road.
Ladies Trials:
Take place on Saturday 12th September 12.00 – 2.00pm
Men’s Trials:
Took place on Saturday 5th September 12.00 – 2.00pm.
Pre-Season Fitness Training
Pre-season training has already started.
It takes place at the club (in Ford’s Grove) on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm
- 8.30pm and will continue into the season. The session is for both men and
women and is taken by a qualified fitness trainer who makes the session hard
work but fun too!
Training
Although generally as last
year, there will be three sessions of training: Tuesdays & Wednesdays plus
Thursdays, which will be exclusively for our newly promoted men’s 1st
XI squad.
Would all players please make every effort to attend at least one session
every week.
Tuesday
9.15 – 10.15pm
– Starts on 1st September.
This session will be on the MUGA at the club and is open to all members
Wednesday
8.00 – 9.00pm
– Starts on 16th September.
This session takes place on the Astro behind Southbury Leisure Centre and is
open to all members.
Thursday 8.15 – 10.15pm
– Starts on 3rd September.
This session is for the 1st XI men’s squad only, on the MUGA.
Subscriptions*
Your
subscription is the fee you pay to belong to the Hockey Section and WHCC
(the parent club) for the year.
Full Member £150.00
Youth (18 –
21) £90.00
Junior - Under
18 £60.00
Junior – Sunday Morning
only £50.00
Goal Keepers with own
kit £85.00
You
can choose to pay your subs by any of the following methods:
By Standing Order, 4 payments of £37.50. Please complete the enclosed
Standing Order Mandate (last page) and return it to your bank (please
tell Dipak Shah that you have done this).
By debit card over the bar (make sure that ‘hockey subs’ is written
on the bar copy of the receipt and also tell Dipak).
By cheque, made payable to ‘WHCC’. Give it to your captain or Dipak.
By cash to your captain. Please make sure this is recorded on the
team envelope. Or give your money direct to Dipak.
*Please
note:
Any member who hasn’t paid their subscription
by 31st October will be fined £10.00, any member who hasn’t
paid by the end of November will be suspended from playing until payment has
been made.
Match Levies (NO INCREASE)
Match levies apply to
all players, for all matches, whether home or away. Please
make sure you give your levy to your captain every time you play. He or she
should not have to chase you – it is your responsibility.

Sunday Junior Hockey training (often
known as Minis)
This part of
the section is primarily aimed at boys and girls from 8 years old and
upwards and meets on Sunday mornings at the Southbury Leisure Centre Astros
from 10.30am until 12.00pm.
Training starts on Sunday 4th October and continues until
13th December and restarts from Sunday 10th January until
14th March.
Please note - There is no Junior training on the first Sunday of
any half term holiday.

The Social Calendar so far!
Social events are important to our section to help raise funds towards our
contribution to the main club. They also give you the opportunity to meet
the members from others sections of the club. Please do your best to support
these events and volunteer your help whenever possible – even a little
counts!

A very warm welcome to
Winchmore Hill and Enfield’s Men and Ladies Hockey Section
Our aim and purpose is to offer a section that plays a good and enjoyable
standard of hockey. We welcome members of all ages and abilities as the
standard of hockey across our teams is varied.
On Saturdays we field 5 men's and 3 ladies' teams with some mixed games on a
Sunday.
Our Men's teams play in the East League and Ladies in Middlesex leagues.
We run a great youth section for boys and girls ages 6-17 on a Sunday
morning at Southbury Leisure Centre. Why not bring your children along.
WE OFFER THE FIRST WEEK'S TRAINING FOR FREE!
Sessions start Sunday 4th October from 10.30am - 12.00 noon.
Players of all abilities are welcome.
We are a section of a fantastic sports club on extensive grounds in N21 that
has it’s own Astroturf Multi Use Games area.
We thrive on the fact that we all play our hockey with passion and
commitment while never losing sight of enjoying it too.
