David Callwood

The Club are sad to announce the passing of former football member David Callwood, aged 92.

David played for many years through three decades in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s and represented the club at 1st XI level before moving into the 2’s 3’s and 4’s. David was a fierce competitor on the pitch and a perfect gentleman off it in the true Corinthian Spirit of AFA and SAL football, and was much loved by his peers and respected by his opponents. He was very much liked by all his friends at Winchmore Hill.

After his football career David was a regular player at Enfield Golf Club and for many years spent three months of the winter in the sunshine of Florida together with his wife Ann playing golf! He also played squash enthusiastically. He loved his jazz and was a regular at the Botany Bay Jazz Club and others in Central London. David is survived by his daughter Tania, sons Richard and Mark, and his much loved grandchildren.

The funeral is to be held at New Southgate Crematorium on Wednesday 18 September at 3pm and friends and club members are welcome. A reception will follow at 4 The Shrublands, Potters Bar, Herts, EN6 2EU.
